Brrrr! Is it just me or did fall (…okay, winter!) set in overnight? It is undeniably chilly outside and I’m loving the excuses to layer up in all the blanket scarves I can find. That being said, I know that once January and February roll around, I’ll be itching for some warmer weather and to get back outside, which makes those months PERFECT for a warm weather getaway.

Depending on where you call home, a long weekend away might be as easy as a two hour plane ride or a trip in the car to the beach! I’m highlighting five long weekend ideas across the U.S. for when you need to find a sunny escape ASAP.

Los Angeles, CA

A long weekend is the perfect amount of time to do some Hollywood sightseeing, beach exploring, and hiking in LA and the surrounding areas. You’ll need a car to best appreciate this city and the surrounding coastal stretch of California, and I highly recommend finding accommodations in one of the many beach towns just outside LA for the perfect getaway. Depending on the type of trip you’re planning, be sure not to miss on some of my favorites below!

Disneyland, Griffith Observatory, Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood Bowl, J. Paul Getty Museum, Rodeo Drive, Redondo Pier, Runyon Canyon Park, Santa Monica Pier, Universal Studios, Warner Bros. Studio Tour

Orlando, FL

I’d be remiss without mentioning one of my favorite places: Orlando! A long weekend here is more than enough time to soak up some sunshine and enjoy a little theme park fun. Are you a thrill ride person? A Harry Potter fanatic? Make your way to Universal Studios and stay at one of the three resorts on property that combines your room with Fastpass access. If Disney is more your scene, stay at a Disney World resort to make the most of your trip with 60-day access to Fastpass+ and Extra Magic hours!

Insider Tip: Unless you’re seasoned Disney or Universal professional, I’d recommend making one of these parks your home-base for the weekend and planning your trip around it. It will be difficult to combine these two places into one weekend!

New Orleans, LA

Perhaps one of the trendiest vacation spots right now, New Orleans is the perfect little city for a long weekend. With an undeniably laid-back vibe combined with good food, live music, and warm weather, plan a weekend here with some friends to get the most out of this city. Be sure not to miss the beignets at Cafe Du Monde, The Hurricane at Pat O’Briens, and a crawfish boil before you head out of town!

Charleston is quintessentially southern and filled with charm at every turn. Perfect for a girls weekend getaway, you could spend your days exploring the city amidst some amazing food and shopping. Be sure to grab an instagram-worthy photo of Rainbow Row and don’t miss the sights below!

Austin, TX

If live music, a bustling art scene, barbeque, and Texas charm sound like your idea of a perfect weekend, head to Austin for that and so much more. With over 250 music venues, Austin is considered the live music capital of the world – it’ll be almost impossible to leave without hearing a local act perform! Spend your days exploring the city and catch a glimpse of the Texas State Capitol or the Austin Farmers Market, or head to the Barton Creek Greenbelt or Hamilton Pool for a scenic adventure.

Where is your favorite winter getaway?
